About Company: The Kitui County Assembly is one of the county assemblies established by the new Kenyan constitution. The County Assembly has several functions. First, the assembly provides accountability and oversight to the functions of the county executive and the Kitui Governor’s office. The Assembly ensures that all the resources allocated to the county are used for the benefit of the people of Kitui. The assembly also makes laws that govern the county of Kitui. The new constitution gave all counties the freedom to decide on their priorities in order to ensure that all development programs answer the needs of the locals.

i. Have Bachelor of Law degree. ii. Have been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. iii. Be in possession of a current practicing certificate. iv. Have served in the grade of Legal Counsel or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of seven (7) years with at least five (5) years of legislative, drafting and general litigation experience. v. Have proficiency in the use of basic computer applications.
i. A Principal Legal Counsel shall be responsible to the Clerk. ii. Drafting of County Assembly Members' Bills. iii. Drafting of amendments to Bills to be proposed to the Assembly by any Member of County Assembly or any committee of the County Assembly. iv. Giving legal Interpretation of Acts and Bills and generally giving legal advice on matters relating to County Assembly. v. Liaising with the office of the County Attorney on litigation matters involving the County Assembly. vi. Legal representation of the County Assembly and the County Assembly Service Board in court proceedings and drafting contracts and related legal documents. vii. Providing any other legal services that may be required by County Assembly, the Committees, the Speaker, the County Assembly Service Board or the Clerk. viii. Training and supervision of the other officers in the department; and, ix. Ensuring that bills passed by County Assembly comply with the Constitution of Kenya
