The Liaison Office (TLO) is an Afghan non-governmental organization, founded in 2003 as a Swiss peace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation). TLO’s main areas of interventions are: Research, Peace building, Rule of Law Justice, Livelihoods and Education. In the nearly sixteen years since its establishment, TLO has expanded from the Southeast into the South (2005) and East (2008) mainly through research and analysis and the facilitation of a series of peace and stability Jirgas. In 2009, TLO began working in the Northern and Central provinces, and in 2011 started research and analysis in Western Afghanistan. Since May 2013 TLO has started a long-term development project “Sustainable Livelihood and Social Development (SLSD) Project in the south-east. Since 2018, TLO started its engagment in the field of education and has successfuly completed educaiton in emergencies project in Nangarhar and Kunare province.The organization employs more than 100 staff.
