Foreign aid has come from good intentions, yet in many cases it has caused long-term and detrimental consequences on a cultural level. One of the most common consequences is the dependency mentality that develops as communities continuously receive handouts from foreigners rather than be motivated to start local initiatives that eradicate the problems they face. Musana’s model eliminates dependency by giving the community full participation and ownership in paving the way forward.
