Part-Time Security Team Member Bodleian Libraries: Radcliffe Camera, Old Bodleian Library and Weston Library, Broad Street, Oxford Grade 2: £17,682 – £19,612 p.a. (pro rata)
The Bodleian Libraries are currently seeking to appoint a part-time Security Team Member to join the security section. Our team is essential to the care and security of our historic buildings and collections and play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of our daily operation.
Your daily duties will vary considerably to provide our customers, both Library and Commercial, with a safe and welcoming environment conducive to their particular needs. Your responsibilities will include responding to emergency situations, setting and unsetting alarms and unlocking and unlocking buildings, conducting routine searches of bags and lockers and patrolling the site.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain composure and authority in all circumstances, the ability to interact with people at all levels in the organisation and beyond and the ability to work well and cooperatively as part of a team. You will be observant with an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a good standard of written and spoken English. An industry recognised security qualification and/or training and experience of security duties and a first aid qualification are desirable.
This roles involve working evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and spending significant time standing and walking and completing repetitive tasks.
This is a permanent part-time role working an average of 32 hours per week over a 3-week rota. The working pattern is expected to be:
Monday: 11.15am - 7.15pm; Wednesday and Thursday: 8.45am - 4.45pm; Friday: 12.30 - 8.30pm and one weekend in three, working 12.5 hours total over 2 days.
Owing to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a basic DBS check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
