Argonne National Laboratory has a great opportunity for an Administrative Secretary to work within the Nuclear & Waste Management \(NWM\) Division\.

This position performs a variety of administrative activities and tasks\. Under minimal supervision and with a considerable degree of initiative, performs a wide range of secretarial and administrative activities, often of a confidential or sensitive nature\. Assignments may include:

+ Researching, compiling, tracking, and analyzing data and information from multiple sources
+ Organizing, coordinating and scheduling meetings
+ Preparing travel arrangements, preparing correspondence and reports
+ Purchasing supplies, filing, coordinating procurement packages, and coordinating calendars
+ Handling of complex assignments by gathering and summarizing considerable information and data using independent judgment\.
+ Providing data and information to others on functional unit processes and procedures\.
+ Requiring a broad working knowledge of departmental and laboratory policies and practice\.
+ The incumbent may utilize various types of software to compile and generate reports, spreadsheets, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, correspondence and presentations\.
+ The Administrative Secretary role may recommend processes to enhance work flow\.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:**

+ Knowledge of secretarial science, office management and practices, English grammar and usage, office machine operations and record\-keeping procedures\.
+ Knowledge, skills and experience with personal computing software including one or more word processing packages, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications\.
+ Skills in verbal and written communications, interpersonal skills and ability to interface with diverse internal and external sources\.
+ Knowledge of Laboratory and divisional policies, practices and procedures, preferred\.
+ Ability to prioritize, organize and handle multiple assignments\.
+ Skill in scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, planning workshops, and coordinating visits of others\.
+ Skill in the preparation of publications, reports and technical presentations including typing and editing and converting documents to HTML and PDF\.
+ Knowledge of principles and technical terminology used in divisional activities, preferred\.
+ High school and 8\+ years of related experience or equivalent\.
