Job Description

We are looking for PROJECT DIRECTOR

Bachelor

Full-Time


 Bachelor of medicine degree and/or Master’s degree in Social Sciences/MPH/ MBA or a related field  Minimum 6 years’ experience in managing donor funded projects in HIV Program areas  Proven experience in designing, implementing large programs: budgets management, program monitoring, evaluation and reporting  Clear understanding of MOH, public and private health systems  Up to date with latest developments in HIV Prevention and HIV programming in general  A leader with ability to manage relationships, supervise many staff and enforce organisational systems.  Experience working with PEPFAR dealing with major grants will be an added advantage


Leadership, Vision and Strategy - Provide leadership to the team implementing the prevention programs in Nairobi and Kiambu, articulating the vision and strategy of the organization and the project goals. - Form and maintain strategic relationships with the county management teams and other partners to enable coordination and enhance achievement of project goals - Forecast areas for future program expansion and work with the team and CDC to develop new strategies for delivering programs - Identify and participate in relevant national government and county forums to ensure project visibility and shared learning Program planning and execution - Coordinate project advisers and/or managers to deliver on the program priorities in an innovative and effective manner in line with the contractual obligations and in keeping with the national guidelines - Provide technical guidance and work with team to develop a work plan for the overall project with activities as per the award and in line with the mission of the organization - Maintain operational efficiency across the project – ensuring smooth processes and efficient systems in place and that all program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organisation - Ensure program compliance with grant rules and regulations and all program activities comply with relevant regulations and professional standards - Responsible for delivery of program targets to meet institutional and contractual obligations Human resources - Line manager for program managers/project advisers, providing direction, mentorship and capacity building and responsible for their performance - Responsible for aligning and motivating staff to deliver on the project goals and in line with the organizations vision and mission. He/she is also responsible for nurturing innovation and supporting development of ideas from staff Financial management - Ensuring efficiency and proper utilization of LVCT Health and donor resources within the project - Working together with the finance team to track program financial performance ensure proper utilization of resources as per approved budgets - Responsible for approval of staff program budgets and liquidations following expenditure Documentation & visibility - Responsible for ensuring key/priority programs are documented/published in an appropriate form and in a timely manner and disseminated widely e.g. through local and international conferences Reporting and M&E - Responsible for ensuring all donor program reports are done accurately and submitted in a timely manner - Build capacity of teams to improve quality of program reports - Inform analysis of program data – ensure correct/relevant data is collected, analysis plans developed and carried out to inform documentation and program improvement - Support continuous improvement of M&E systems to meet project needs - Conduct regular site visits with relevant team members to ensure efficient program delivery and achievement of targets. Provide leadership during SIMS visits by CDC and ensure action points are acted upon in a timely manner Communication - Communication of project directions and decisions of CDC and/or the senior management to the project staff while relaying feedback from the project staff to management or CDC for action. - Maintain regular communication with CDC, providing updates on program performance and addressing any concerns in a timely manner. Provide leadership during quarterly review meetings with support from the project PI.
