Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD) offers expert services for staff and students to supporting learning and to provide the best possible educational experience. The Department undertakes research into learning and education and provides the Masters in Academic Practice and the PhD Programme in Professional Education. LEaD fosters a culture of educational excellence encompassing content, delivery and support and covering the full student journey.


LEaD is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to a Lectureship (Education role) in Educational Development for two days a week on a fixed term basis for nine months. The role provides an opportunity to be part of the MA Academic Practice programme team and work with colleagues to develop their academic practice. Responsibilities include acting as module leader for two iterations of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment module on the MA Academic Practice Programme and leading other modules. As a member of the programme team you be a personal tutor for students and in addition mentor staff who wish to gain HEA Fellowship through our RISES programme. There may also be opportunities to engage in projects across the institution.

Person Specification

The appointed candidate will have a higher degree in a relevant field and education experience at Masters level.

High level knowledge and experience of developing and enhancing learning, teaching and assessment is essential and experience of master’s level teaching. Also required is experience of mentoring colleagues through HEA Fellowship.

The role will suit a candidate with experience in supporting, mentoring and developing colleagues to enhance their practice and the student experience.
