Part-time Communications Officer Faculty of English Language and Literature, St Cross Building, Manor Road, Oxford Grade 6: £29,176 - £34,804 p.a. (pro rata)
The Faculty of English is seeking a part-time (0.6FTE) Communications Officer to join its busy administrative team and take the lead on developing communications within the Faculty. This post is offered for a fixed-term of 3 years from 1 January 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Communications Officer will play a key role in developing the Faculty's communications and social media strategy. They will be responsible for reviewing and developing the website and intranet (in particular, and as the main priority in the first instance, updating the sections relating to the Faculty’s research in preparation for the REF), sourcing and writing new content and editing a termly magazine for alumni, staff and students. The postholder will also be expected to manage the Faculty’s alumni records, using the University’s Development and Alumni Relations System (DARS), and act as editor of the Faculty’s termly alumni e-newsletter.
The successful applicant will have degree level qualifications and/or possess equivalent professional experience, and will have a demonstrable interest in English language and literature, along with extensive communications experience in print, digital and social media; proven experience in producing effective web content; and excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Previous experience of working in higher education is desirable for this post.
