We are seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to join Dr Fiona Watt’s Clinical Translation team in the Centre for Osteoarthritis Pathogenesis Versus Arthritis at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology. This is a new position working on a project to identify genetic variants and molecular pathways associated with progression (or protection) to ‘post traumatic osteoarthritis’ (PTOA) after a knee injury. The role is responsible for the laboratory aspects of this research, and any related work being carried out within the centre during this time. You will have previous laboratory experience, including handling human samples and a BSc/MSc in biological science or equivalent is desirable. Excellent communication, computing and organisational skills are essential to the post, as well as strong attention to detail, with the ability to catalogue samples and record results in a clear and organised fashion. This is a part-time appointment (0.6 – 0.8 FTE) fixed-term for 18 months. Owing to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require a satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check.
