The main objective for the Administrative Manager/Senior Staff Assistant is to provide for all necessary administrative support and services to assist the Chair in ensuring the Department faculty's greatest effectiveness in their primary roles as teachers and researchers. The Administrative Manager carries out administrative activities of the Department to facilitate relationships between the Chair and the faculty, between staff and students, between the Department and University offices, and between the Department and agencies outside the University.

Responsibilities include:

+ Fiscal management, personnel management, facility management, and related academic affairs support including enrollment management, course scheduling, facilitating department recruitment efforts, and alumni affairs

+ Serves as the departmental liaison to other university office including the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)'s Dean, Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Purchasing, Registrar, Media Relations, and Facilities Management

+ Establish procedures which enable meeting these responsibilities in the most efficient and effective way possible

+ Oversee the daily operations of the departmental office including supervising the department's secretarial staff

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization

+ Two years minimum professional administrative (and supervisory) experience

+ Demonstrated superior interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills

+ Budget management experience

+ Experience using MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization

+ Experience using IAS (PeopleSoft)

+ Website development software experience
