### Summary

This position is in NASA's Pathways Intern Program which provides
students with the opportunity to explore NASA careers and gain
meaningful developmental work experience in the accounting and
budget area at Marshall Space Flight Center. We are looking for
Student Trainees in the areas of business, accounting, finance, and
budget.

### Responsibilities

- You will assist management and planning personnel in preparing
resource requirements for assigned laboratory Branches and
Divisions.
- You will participate in activities related to business and/or
organizational operations in a variety of work areas.
- Your activities may include estimating, tracking, execution and
integration of resources needed to perform technical support
activities for programs, projects, and Space Act Agreements.
- You will research regulations and other pertinent directives of
assigned tasks to ultimately display and validate a working
knowledge of NASA regulations, policies, and analytical
procedures.

### Conditions of Employment

- You must be a U. S. citizen or national.
- Enrolled/accepted in an accredited educational institution.
- Pursuing a degree or certificate.
- Maintain enrollment at least half time as defined by the
institution.
- Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.9 on a 4.0
scale.
- You will be required to undergo a pre-employment background
investigation.
- You will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
- Available to work at least 640 hours prior to completion of
degree.
- You must meet eligibility requirements by midnight on the the
closing date of the announcement.
- This appointment will start no earlier than January 21, 2020 and
no later than August 31, 2020.
- Candidates who indicate an availability date in the NASA
Supplemental Questionnaire after August 31, 2020 will be found
ineligible.
- Applicants must have an expected graduation date of no earlier
than one calendar year from this closing date of this
announcement.
- Candidates who indicate an expected completion date in the NASA
Supplemental Questionnaire that is prior to one calendar year
from the closing date of the announcement will be found

### Qualifications

Starting GS grade levels are determined by education level:

GS-04: Enrolled in a certificate program or associate's or
bachelor's degree program and have completed at least 30 semester
hours or at least 45 quarter hours of undergraduate education.

GS-05: Enrolled in a certificate program or bachelor's degree
program and have completed at least 60 semester hours or at least 90
quarter hours of undergraduate education.

You will only be considered for the highest grade for which you
qualify.

### Education

You must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or
university with a major study in any field at an institution
accredited by the Department of Education. Some positions may
require the intern to have obtained 24 semester hours in accounting
prior to graduation.

The following majors are preferred: Accounting, Business
Administration, Finance, or Public Administration.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign
colleges or universities to meet
the qualification requirements, you must show that the education
credentials have been evaluated by a
private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign
education programs and such education has
been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S.
education program; or full credit has been given

education completed and acceptable performance. However, promotions

The supervisor and Intern will agree on a formally-arranged schedule
of school and work rotations. A rotation is a defined period of work
or school study, usually a semester, a summer, or a quarter in
length.

Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience before completing
degree requirements;

Meet the qualification requirements for the position to which they
are converted; and

Maintain acceptable performance.

Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that NASA will offer
conversion. At NASA, term appointments last from one to six years.
If an Intern is converted to a term appointment, they may later be
converted to a permanent appointment without competing. Additional
coursework may be required for conversion.

The Intern may be converted to an Accountant or Budget Analyst with
promotion potential to the GS-12 level. TO BE CONVERTED TO AN
ACCOUNTANT POSITION YOU MUST HAVE OBTAINED 24 SEMESTER HOURS IN
ACCOUNTING.
