The successful post holder will work with Professor Paul Crawford and his team in carrying out investigations relevant to a large interdisciplinary AHRC commissioned grant: 'Animated Storytelling for Mental Health Literacy Among Young People'.

This post will run from January 2020 - December 2021. The role will suit a candidate with a doctorate in mental health literacy or psychology and/or creative arts, animation or storytelling in health contexts, ideally with experience in working with young people.

The project will comprise quantitative and qualitative research elements that combine to (a) investigate interactive experiences and changes in mental health awareness brought about by a series of newly developed Aardman animations and mobile app, (b) examine the role of these animations and app in elucidating themes associated with mental health awareness and help-seeking (e.g., perfectionism, independence, loneliness & isolation, social media, competitiveness, agency and empowerment, and trust), and (c) adapt an element of the UnBias Toolkit called TrustScapes ( http://proboscis.org.uk/5889/unbias-fairness-toolkit-preview/ ) to help young people express their perceptions and feelings of trust related to the animations and app.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to assist the team in developing engagement and impact of this project and in support of further funding bids around young people and mental health literacy. Opportunities to publish within this research area will be actively encouraged.

This post is part-time (29 hours per week) and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months.
