About Company: Established due to the dictates of transformation to liberal policies in early 90s which induced the proliferation of media outlets, the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) is committed to promoting freedom of the media and ensuring the highest professional standards and accountability. It was started by the media fraternity as an independent, voluntary, non-statutory regulatory body in June 30, 1995 during the journalists and stakeholders Convention held in Dar es Salaam. It began operations in 1997 when it was officially registered under the Societies Ordinance of 1954.

Requirements
CPA(T) holder or its equivalent, qualified professional member
of NBAA;
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance from a
reputable university;
• Minimum of six (6) years or more ·experience in accounting/
finance at senior level.

Responsibilities
a) Head the Finance Unit and provide financial advice to the
Executive Secretary on optimum utilization of Council financial
resources;
b) Participate in and provide technical advice during Council
planning and budgeting processes;
c) Provide financial information and analysis to the management
teclm lo assist them in making managerial decisions;
d) Review financial statements and submit the some to ES;
e) Develop o financial system that will detect errors and irregularities
in o timely manner;
~ Review Management Reports which include but not limited to,
monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial reports and
liaise with ES for their submission to the users;
g) Review and maintain suitable procedural framework to allow
the accounts unit to carry out its allocated function of providing
financial services within MCT;
h) Review compliance of MCT with lows and regulations relating
to tax as well as other statutory deductions;
i) Review periodically operations of the accounting package and
ensure all information is input accurately on doily basis;
j) Review cash receipts and disbursements transactions such as
but not limited to, travel, and ensuring adequacy of supporting
documents and appropriate cost allocations;
k) Initiate review of all financial documents to realign them with
practice, market and completeness, and compliance with
applicable policies ;
I) liaise with programme staff on the integrated management
lo enhance optimal use of resources when implementing the Council objectives while observing the contractual compliance
with all donor requirements,
m) Review periodically to ensure financial documents ore kepi and
ore in compliance with MCT's financial policies;
n) Communicate financial policies and procedures to all staff and
ensure they ore properly implemented and adhered to;
o) Interpret the Programmes Strategy and link ii to the Budget; link
Annual Work Plans to Annual Budgets and provide strategic
advice on the implementation that will enhance value for money;
p) Review Donor reports and ensure submission of the same is done
within the context of the Memorandum of Understanding and
Bilateral Agreements;
