Requirements
alifications of Successful Candidate
An Advanced University Degree in a discipline related to Risk Management, International Relations, Cultural Anthropology, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence
Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security or Counter Terrorism.
Substantial relevant qualifying experience and training may be considered in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis at least three years of which
should be at a strategic level. Demonstrated international security management experience and understanding of the United Nations Security Management
System is essential for this role. Previous experience working on programme access in a high threat environment is an asset. A background in information
analysis and working to support programme activities in an environment dominated by supporting military forces and non-state armed groups is an asset
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset

Responsibilities
The Security Specialist reports to the Senior Security Advisor and maintains a close working relationship with the UNDSS Field Security Coordination Officer. The
Security Specialist is responsible for advising the Chief of Field Office in Baidoa on their security duties and responsibilities in accordance with UN and UNICEF
Security Management Systems. The Security Specialist contributes to the UNICEF mandate through strong security risk analysis, advice, and relevant mitigation.
The Security Specialist manages, on behalf of the Representative, all security activities in support of the Baidoa Office. A prime focus of this position will be to
analyse access data and local security issues in order to maximize the ability of staff to conduct field programme activities.
