About the Job
The Administration Fellowship prepares professionals to be leaders of tomorrow's health care institutions. During this one-year fellowship, appointees develop skills which are fundamental to the operations of an academic and community-based medical center.
The program is based at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, the tertiary center for the Lahey Health System. The group practice model of LHMC provides the fellow a unique learning opportunity in a dynamic healthcare market.
The program is a distinctive and unique learning opportunity. Through project-based and rotation based learning, guided by senior management, the fellow focuses on effective ways to bridge the worlds of medicine and administrative management. Fellows pursing administrative roles gain understanding of the clinical aspects of healthcare as well as the principles of management, operations and finance.
Under the mentorship of a senior administrator, the opportunities for study include:
+ Hands-on exposure to clinical work, including physician and nursing rounds, observing clinical procedures and quality rounds;
+ Experience in management, finance, operations, marketing and community relations;
+ Experience working within an integrated health care system of academic and community-based hospitals;
+ Participation in meetings of senior leaders and assignments to special projects under their guidance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
+ Take initiative in designing or implementing a project or assignments as needs arise during fellowship.
+ Attend all scheduled meetings (i.e board meetings, senior management team meetings, department, or medical staff meetings).
+ Provide professional, quality work.
+ Seek guidance when needed by Executive Sponsor or Program Director.
+ Comply with the policies and procedures of the organization.
+ Help coordinate the planning, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding for the next fellow.
Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Health Confidentiality policy.
Incorporate Lahey Health Standards of Behavior and Guiding Principles into daily activities.
Comply with all Lahey Health Policies.
Comply with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Health.
Maintain courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
Demonstrate an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
Demonstrate a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.
Participate in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
Participate in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
Perform all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
