Full time starting salary is normally in the range £41,526 - £77,108 (Lecturer salary from £41,526 - £49,553 a year with potential progression (to £55,750 a year)). (Senior Lecturer/Reader salary from £51,034 - £59,135 a year with potential progression (to £77,108 a year)).

We have a vibrant community of students at undergraduate, postgraduate and at postgraduate research level. Our programmes are innovative and intellectually stimulating and delivered by professional and experienced staff that stimulate the students to become graduates that are ready for a complex and ever changing business world. The Department of Accounting and Finance provide a long established and successful BSc degree in Accounting and Finance. The Departments provide one-year full-time postgraduate programmes leading to the MSc International Accounting and Finance, with two pathways in collaboration with Kaplan offering preparation for ACCA’s professional exams. We have also campuses in Singapore and Dubai where we offer our BSc Accounting and Finance programme and where we provide our expertise on BSc Management and MSc International Business.

This is a teaching-focussed post and we expect the successful post-holder to mainly teach and examine the subject of Business Law, which relates to the areas of law most commonly encountered in business, at both the Edgbaston and Dubai campuses. We will expect the candidate to undertake the full range of responsibilities that go with the subject role, to include:

  • promoting innovative teaching informed by discipline-based research
  • developing formative approaches to module evaluation, examining and marking
  • contributing to the important role of student academic support
  • contributing to curriculum development for the subject area

Senior Lecturer applicants will lead on the management and development of approaches to teaching and learning that are innovative to the subject area, and will make an important contribution to the development and running of the School.

In all these ways, we seek as a Department to deliver excellent teaching that inspires students.

Applicants should have qualifications and experience relevant to the post: e.g. a first or higher degree in Law, a professional qualification and professional practice experience. They should have a record of successful teaching experience in higher education, preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate high level analytical capabilities, the ability to design and deliver module materials successfully, to implement and use innovative teaching and learning approaches, and to assess and organise teaching and learning resources effectively. They should also have evidence of the ability to undertake related administration tasks, and to contribute to broader management/administration processes. Senior Lecturer applicants should have a high national reputation for the development of teaching and learning excellence within the discipline, and a successful and sustained performance in significant administrative/managerial role.
