About Company: Mandate Acting on the recommendations of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Security Council decided on 2 May 2013 to establish the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) by 3 June for an initial period of 12 months, providing the United Nations “good offices” functions — and a range of strategic policy advice — in support of the Federal Government’s peace and reconciliation process. Unanimously adopting resolution 2102 (2013), the Council decided that the mandate of UNSOM — which it intended to renew as appropriate — would include the provision of policy advice to the Federal Government and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on peacebuilding and state-building in the areas of: governance, security sector reform and rule of law (including the disengagement of combatants), development of a federal system (including preparations for elections in 2016), and coordination of international donor support.

Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, or automotive engineering. A first-level university degree in combination with
qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical or automotive engineering is required. Qualifying years of experience are calculated
following the receipt of the first level university degree recognised by the United Nations. A minimum of two years experience serving in a United Nations
post-conflict area is required.

•Applies commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the design, construction, or repair of
buildings, roads, bridges, airfields, helipads, railways, docks, waste disposal systems, flood control systems, water treatment facilities, electrical power generation
and distribution systems, environmental control systems, field defenses, mine detection and clearance, vehicles, plants and equipment maintenance systems, and
other related structures and activities in the field.
