Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communication, Public Relations, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
 Master’s degree in any relevant discipline;
 Relevant professional postgraduate qualification;
 Member of a relevant professional body;
 Extensive experience in media, public relations or communication;
 Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
 A robust media networker & Lobbyist;
 Knowledge of various media channels, including social media;
 Strong communication and writing skills;
 Demonstrable computer application skills.
 Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
 Ability to work with and supervise multi-generational staff
 Experience in government or public sector will be an added advantage;
 Monitoring the execution of the communication policies and adherence to set standards across the institution to determine their utilization by staff;
 Coordinating the development of the communication programs to support key stakeholders and media relation efforts to give the Commission the required positioning and visibility;
 Monitoring the department’s operational strategy, policies, work plan and budgets to support the attainment of its mandate;
 Overseeing the development of emergency disaster/ crises management communication to ensure accurate communication is relayed at the point of a disaster;
 Ensuring that the Commission’s corporate image is well maintained and represented;
Overseeing the implementation of regulations procedures from management within the department;
 Coordinating the implementation of the Commission’s communication strategy to ensure effective social marketing and management of the Commission’s brand and reputation;
 Managing the Commission’s brand and reputation by ensuring that the office brand standards are met in all communications both in tone and message;
 Driving the Commission’s internal and external communication strategy and messaging by providing counsel and message framework for all other channels of communication for the office;
 Coordinating the Commission’s advertising and publicity to maintain a positive image of the Commission;
 Overseeing the Implementation of the decisions made by management to ensure ideas are put in place for the Commission’s positive growth;
 Proactively cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholder organizations;
 Management of the departmental budget
