A minimum of five years of experience in public information or related area is required.
Experience of relevant computer software and applications used for word processing, publishing, spreadsheets, presentations, processing and storing information electronically, using databases for establishing mailing lists, image editing and management, Internet content management, graphics, PDF conversion and editing, FTP - file transfer, web design and multimedia management is highly desirable.
Experience of taking photographs and editing them as well as in working with video camera and video editing software is desirable.
Process, design and disseminate press releases and other documents: format, disseminate by e-mail and post press releases and other information material on the UNIS website; disseminate information via Twitter and other social media; design various materials such as invitations; liaise with in-house and external partners for printing and publications.
Develop, maintain and update the UNIS contacts database in Lotus Notes; manage and maintain UNIS archives, including press releases and other documents, and create new archiving and storage systems as required.
Media monitoring: search electronic and print media for coverage related to UNIS clients/ for major UN-related stories and specific event-related monitoring.
Information management: process incoming information from the Department of Public Information (DPI) at UN Headquarters.
Assist in organizing UNIS Vienna media and outreach events: serve as UNIS photographer at events; format and post photos on Flickr and maintain the UNIS photo library.
Update the media sections of the UNIS website: posting video, audio and other information on the website as required.
