Essential Functions
Position Summary: Development Engineer will be responsible for developing technical filtration solutions involving filtration media and filter element design. Will be responsible for designing and prototyping filtration systems and filter testing procedures. Duties will include operating analytical laboratory equipment, analyzing and documenting test results, document control, and other technical and business tasks. Responsibilities may include lab management with direct reports. Position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado Essential Functions: • Collaborate with engineers on the requirements for design validation testing, potential design changes, product specifications, serviceability of products, and assembly requirements. • Set-up, run, and inspect validation tests. Prepare required test reports. • Maintain records, reports and files necessary to accomplish and track job objectives. • Maintain proper communications, administration, discipline, and other day-to-day procedures. • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices. • Participates in industry groups or associations. Represents the company at industry meetings and makes technical presentations regarding existing and new technology, test methods, etc. • Represents the company on high-level projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement). • Understand filtration material capabilities in various applications. • Create and maintain material specifications for products that optimize performance and manufacturability • Coordinate filtration development programs with internal and external partners and development resources. Lab Management Responsibilities: • Management of Fuel and Analytical lab. • Supervision of laboratory technicians. • Assist with new equipment selection and upgrades. • Conduct test scheduling. • Develop and coordinate activities with lab technicians and suppliers that accomplish new developments in a timely manner.
Qualifications: • Bachelors degree (BS) or higher degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, chemistry, or related technical field. • Experience in Filtration Development including filtration media and filter element design. • Knowledge of coalescing and surface chemistry topics. • Proven written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to perform in a team environment. • Able to travel to industry meetings and interface with customers. Preferred Qualifications: • MS/PHD in Filtration related technical field • Experience in fuel/water separation. • Experience communicating with Customers and Suppliers • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) expertise
