This is your chance to join Kent and Medway Medical School in pioneering a new era of responsive, student-centred medical education. As Head of Anatomy and Academic Lead for Year 2, you will help establish the south east’s newest anatomical science centre, make a major contribution to the development of the undergraduate programme – and provide an inspirational role model for the next generation of medical professionals.

Kent and Medway Medical School has been created to be a beacon for first-class medical education and research. Bringing together the resources of the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, our whole ethos is one of partnership. The combined roles of Head of Anatomy and Academic Lead for Year 2 involve working closely with our programme, academic and administrative teams across both Universities, as well as with the wider health education community and a variety of external bodies.

In your capacity as Head of Anatomy you will provide the academic leadership, subject expertise, operational knowledge and skills to establish the delivery of this discrete, specialist area of the curriculum. You will contribute to the establishment of the new Anatomy Learning Centre and its team in order to support the delivery of innovative learning experiences across the School. You will also be expected to play a significant role in curriculum oversight as part of the Curriculum Development Group, and to provide academic leadership to the team of anatomical scientists involved in the learning and teaching provision - line-managing and implementing best practice throughout.

In the role of Academic Lead for Year 2, you will play a key part in coordinating the development and delivery of teaching and assessment in Year 2 and will contribute to the process of the programme’s ongoing accreditation by the General Medical Council. You will be expected to provide leadership of all aspects of the second year of the programme and will be a point of contact for student advice and feedback.

To make your mark in this influential role, you must be an enthusiastic innovator with a healthy attitude to change and new challenges, plus a co-operative approach that matches our own. Whether you are clinically registered and practising or working in clinical or academic roles within a university, you will be a Licensed Teacher of Anatomy with recent expertise in undergraduate clinical education, including curriculum delivery and evaluation. Ideally you will also have experience of student selection, assessment including admissions and portfolios in medical education, electronic learning and assessment, student support, supervision and inter-professional learning and assessment.
