The Academic Programmes Manager is a new and important senior professional role in the department, managing all administrative aspects of the department’s academic activities. You will play a key role in the department’s teaching activities, providing guidance on university policies as well as oversight for student related activities and departmental initiatives. You will lead and manage a team of three Academic Administrators, each of whom has responsibility for running at least one programme and who in turn each line manage a team of up to four staff. You will also work closely with the Directors of Studies and be responsible for an overview of the work of the department’s exam boards and academic committees. 

You will provide overall management of the department’s academic programme offices, ensuring a full, professional and effective service to staff and students as well as ensuring that the department’s academic administration optimises the student experience. You will work closely with key staff and act as first point of contact with the divisional office for academic administration matters to ensure that information is collated and provided for information gathering exercises. You will oversee all aspects of graduate admissions administration in the department as well as the administration of graduate progression, examinations etc. You will be responsible for the completion and collation of statistical and other returns to the university and external bodies as well as ensuring that all academic programmes comply with internal and external requirements. 

You will be educated to honours degree level or have equivalent substantial experience and will have worked in a similar academic environment. You will have a proven track record in leading teams and ideally experience of change management. Along with excellent organisational and management skills, you will have the ability to handle a complex workload in a fast-moving environment. You will demonstrate the ability to think and plan strategically as well as carry out operational tasks and will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with tact and diplomacy.

The post is permanent and full-time.
