**Academic Interventional Cardiologist - the Syracuse VA Medical
Center (VAMC) is searching for a part-time Interventional
Cardiologist to fulfill the current staffing needs of our
facility.**

### Responsibilities

**Academic Interventional Cardiologist** **- the Syracuse VA Medical
Center (VAMC) is searching for a part-time Interventional
Cardiologist to fulfill the current staffing needs of our facility.
The Syracuse VAMC is an active teaching hospital affiliated with and
physically adjacent to the State University of New York Upstate
Medical University (SUNY UMU). Candidates must be board certified in
Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Interventional
Cardiology. The Syracuse VAMC offers state-of-the-art equipment in a
cardiac interventional suite. The successful candidate will have
experience in performing ECG's, cardiac catherization and cardiac
implantation and will be required to provide on-call coverage.
Candidates must possess a current and unrestricted medical license
in any state and must qualify for a corresponding academic
appointment at SUNY UMU.**

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

- **ECG Coverage: One ½ day (4 hours) clinic per week, 52 weeks
per year. Specific schedule to be determined upon mutual
agreement.**

- **Cardiac Catherization Lab: One full day (8 hours) clinic, 26
weeks per year. Specific schedule to be determined upon mutual
agreement.**

- **Cardiac Device Implantation: One full day (8 hours) clinic, 26
weeks per year. Specific schedule to be determined upon mutual
agreement.**

- **On-Call Interventional Cardiology coverage is required.**

**Work Schedule:** Part-Time , **will be required to provide on-call
coverage.**

### Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements
by the closing date of this announcement, 08/11/2020.
**Basic Requirements:**
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed
when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in
accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools
approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in
which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United
States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by
the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Physical requirements outlined below.

**Reference:** VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part
II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found
in the local Human Resources Office.

**Physical Requirements:** : Light lifting (under 15 lbs), light
carrying (under 15 lbs), use of fingers, far vision correctable in
one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted),
emotional stability, mental stability.
